Rotary Program Chairperson Steve Straub (left), had as his guest speaker, Mary Lee Uber, a local woman who has started an autism support group. Her utlimate goal is to become an official Charter of the Autism Society. Mary said there is no answer to why Autism occurs in children. She said in 1995, one in 10,000 were diagnosed with autism. Today that number is one in 166. Autism is four times more relevant in boys, but girls have more severe cases. The club voted to support Mary Lee's wish to start an Autism Chapter here by giving her the money to start the process. Mary Lee gave credit to Kris Fapore for opening the doors of the Family Center meetings she has been holding.
