Emporium Alle-Catts One Win Away!

Emporium is riding a lateseason surge that has brought the team one win away from repeating as the Alle-Catt Amateur Baseball League champion.

The red-hot Emporium AlleCatts will play for all the marbles on Sunday at 2 p.m. as they host the winner of Saturday's Kane vs. Crosby game.

Emporium manager Ralph McKimm is pleased with his team's performance over the past several weeks.

"We got off to a slow start this year, and it was kind of a rebuilding year with some younger ballplayers coming aboard," McKimm told the Endeavor. "It took a while for things to jell, but the guys always play hard and give it everything they've got. Now that they've been playing together for a while, things are looking good and I hope it can continue."

Kyle Gledhill hit the gamewinning home run and was credited with the mound win in last Saturday's dramatic 5-4 win over visiting Kane. Gledhill relieved starter Ralph McKimm, who gave Emporium six solid innings on the mound. Travis Crosby and Ryan Bresslin also homered for the winners.

Earlier in the playoffs, Emporium turned away the visiting Olean AOH team, 9-2. Bresslin pitched a complete game, scattering seven hits and striking out seven. Paul Baker, Travis Crosby, Drew

Tompkins, Kevin Gledhill and Rick Uber each homered for the winners.

Emporium squeaked out the league's East Division championship based on tiebreakers. Kane won the West Division.
