Soccer seasons comes to a close

Coudersport closed out what proved to be a rebuilding high school soccer season with a 2- 1 loss to visiting Smethport last Thursday.

Alex Renn scored the only goal for the Falcons, who finished 2-15-1. Goalie Zac Miller recorded 10 saves for the hosts.

Coach Brian Empson and assistants said farewell to five seniors who were appearing their final game: Jordan Long, Jared Schram, Steve White, Brian Empson and Touch Mongkonsawat.

A competitive showing in that season finale, coupled with Coudersport's stellar effort in late-season games against heavyweights Kane and Elk County Catholic, fuel hope of an improved record in 2008 and beyond.

This year's team included 12 first-year players, nine of them freshmen.
