Coudersport girls (20-0) movin' on!

The beat goes on for the undefeated Coudersport High School varsity softball team.

Each step becomes more challenging for coach Scott Andrews' Falcons, who held off A-C Valley in the PIAA District 9 quarterfi nals, 7-4, at Metzger Field on Wednesday night to improve to 20-0.

They'll suit up again Tuesday to take on Clarion in the semifinals at a neutral site, hoping to battle for the district title next Thursday against either Curwensville or Brockway.

"We did a very good job of keeping the game under control and getting that last out to finish it off," said a relieved Andrews after Wednesday's win.

He was pleased with the balanced offensive attack, led by Kori McManus (3 singles, 2 RBI), Kayla Bohn (double, single), Brielle Whitman (double, single) and Angela Smoulder (2 singles).

Senior pitcher Karli Duffee struck out 10 and allowed just four hits and a pair of walks.

"Karli pitched a very strong game and, defensively, we played six strong innings (out of seven)," Andrews noted.

Each win more firmly anchors this year's team in the school record books. No Coudersport squad before had survived the regular season with an unblemished record and the 2009 Falcons are the school's first squad to reach the 20-win milestone.

But Andrews and his crew have their sights set on an even loftier goal: a District 9 title and success in the upcoming state playoffs.
