Emergency response to agriculture incidents

Agricultural terrorism may seem an unlikely occurrence to some, but the nation's food supply is vulnerable and the federal government is taking protective measures.

A seminar for emergency responders on the issue will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 8 am to noon at the Coudersport Firehall.

Focus will be on vulnerabilities and countermeasures, with an emphasis on the role that hazardous materials teams and other emergency responders would play in the event of an agricultural emergency incident.

The seminar will also focus on emergency response involving ethanol and other potential hazards in a farm setting.

Registration is required by Aug. 24 at 274-8900.
