Paul Martin Travis

MAY 22, 1936 - MARCH 5, 2010

Paul Martin Travis, Sr., age 73, of 175 Willow wood Drive, Emporium, PA passed away March 3, 2010 at the Dubois Regional Medical Center after a four-year battle with cancer.

Born May 22, 1936 in Anita, PA to Clarence and Gladys Travis, he was one of 17 children. On March 6, 1971 he married Virginia Travis at the Free Methodist Church in Emporium.

Over his many years, he did landscaping through self-employment, worked at several factories, Stoltz Motors and the Bradford Era. He took great pride in every job he performed.

He enjoyed spending his free time hunting, bowling, playing bingo and camping with his family.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Travis of Emporium, and seven children: Paula Travis, Margaret (Chad) Travis and Michael (Misty) Travis, all of Emporium; Timothy Travis, Denver, CO; and from a previous marriage, Marcia Travis, Washington, Florence Travis, Bradford and Linda Travis, both of Bradford. He had five grandchildren, all of Emporium: Erica Carpin, who lived at home with him, Paige Berry, Billie Rae Berry, Ava Travis, and Dakota Berry.

In addition, he is survived by 10 siblings: Pearl Grove, Rossiter; William (Gloria)Travis, Monroeville; Maryanne (Harry) Pierce, Shirley (Hilton) Conrad and Charles Travis, all of Sharon; Max (Edith) Travis, New Hampshire; Rodney (Leona) Travis, Maryland; Forest (Jean) Travis, Washington; Robert (Linda) Travis, New York; and Bertha Travis, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gladys Travis; four brothers, Clarence, David, Ord and Nolan Travis; two sisters, Opal Travis and Esther Taggart; and one son, Paul Travis, Jr.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 5, 2010 from 1-4 pm at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Emporium, with the service immediately following.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
