‘Christmas In The Wilds’ held next weekend

Emporium’s annual Christmas in the Wilds observance next weekend will usher in the holiday season.

Even if Old Man Winter does not cooperate by coating the community with snow, there will be a festive spirit in the air on Saturday, Dec. 10, according to Tina Johns, director of the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce.

EVFD Auxiliary will host Breakfast with Santa at the firehall from 9-11:30 am. Cost is $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.

A parade will move through town on Saturday afternoon. The Chamber hopes to arrange for reindeer Dasher and Dancer to be on hand to pose for pictures with children. More details will be available soon.

Emporium Senior Center will be holding a craft and food sale from 9 am to 3 pm. There’s still time to sign up for a table. Call 486-0318 or 486-3707 for details.

St. Hilda’s Guild of Emmanuel Episcopal Church will hold a Christmas cookie sale from 10 am until 1 pm in front of the Chamber office on Fourth Street. Assorted cookies on festive plates in holiday wrappings with ornaments will be available.

Various groups will be selling gift items and food along Fourth Street. Businesses will feature in-store specials.

Emporium Borough Council has gotten into the spirit by authorizing free downtown parking to promote local Christmas shopping through the remainder of 2011.
