School locked down for drug search

Cameron County High School was locked down last Friday afternoon for an extended period as police conducted a drug investigation.

Students were confifined to their classrooms after two female juveniles, whose names were not released by police, were allegedly using a needle to inject drugs in the girls’ restroom. Police were summoned and a drugsniffifi ng dog was brought in.

As a result of the investigation and search, more drug paraphernalia was found in the students’ possession and in their lockers.

Each suspect has been charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Borough Police were assisted by St. Marys City Police K9 Unit and Cameron County Children and Youth Services.
