Raiders lose three one-run games

Cameron County’s varsity baseball team has had a tough season with flashes of hope but, in the end, a 1-9 record.

Take last week, for example -- the Raiders lost games to Otto- Eldred and Oswayo Valley by identical 7-6 scores.

On Thursday at Duke Center, CCHS scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 5-4 lead, but the Terrors plated one in their half of the inning to send the game into extra frames.

The Raiders slipped on top again in the eighth, 6-5, but yielded a pair in the bottom of that inning. Anthony Grimone provided two home runs and added a single to lead the Cameron County offense. Devin Mason also collected a pair of hits and drove in a run, while Dominic Guisto had a single and two RBI.

At Oswayo Valley on Friday, Tyler Wigfield’s threerun double keyed a five-run rally late in the game, but the Raiders came up short. Grimone and Mason each doubled, drove in a run and scored a run.

Mason and Tucker Britton handled last week’s pitching duties.
