Coudersport Rt. 6 project meeting planned Tuesday

PennDOT’s plan to upgrade the Rt. 6 corridor through much of downtown Coudersport will be discussed during a public meeting to be held at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the Gunzburger Building auditorium.

Coudersport Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the meeting, in recognition of the construction project’s implications for the downtown area. Chamber leaders are hoping for a good turnout.

PennDOT community relations coordinator Marla Fannin said the earliest any work would commence is 2015, but the time to air and resolve issues is now.

Fannin outlined the project area – which will include Rt. 6 from its intersection at Chestnut/ West streets (Coudersport Arboretum lot) to its intersection with Ludwig Lane (SPC Mike Franklin Bridge on East Second Street).

She advised that there will be an impact on Coudersport’s primary business district during portions of the work, which includes pavement restoration, some curb and sidewalk installation, and drainage improvements.

Fannin will be joined at Tuesday’s meeting by two other PennDOT officials, project manager Dave Kipp and portfolio manager Tom Zurat in discussing the project and gathering public input.
