DCED brass to visit area this week

Several influential state leaders are embarking on a road trip in the coming week to check out business conditions in northcentral Pennsylvania.

Public meetings are part of the agenda for Champ Holman, deputy secretary of the Pa. Dept. of Community and Economic Development (DCED). On Wednesday, Sept. 18, he’ll be at the Emporium Firehall at 9:30 am, and at the Gunzburger Building in Coudersport at 11:15.

Business owners, local government officials, community leaders and others interested in economic development are invited to meet with Holman.

At each stop, he will present a brief summary of DCED’s programs and partnership opportunities, but the main purpose of his visit is to hear from businesses and community leaders on local needs and priorities. DCED offers grants, loans and technical assistance.

Holman’s boss, DCED Secretary C. Alan Walker (pictured), is also touring the region in the coming week, with informal stops in Benezette, Emporium and the Austin area.

Also visiting will be DCED Director of Tourism Diane McGraw, who plans stops at Galeton, the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum, Coudersport and Cherry Springs State Park.

Scott Dunkelberger, director of DCED’s Center for Business Financing, is going to tour Gas Field Specialists in Shinglehouse.
