Emporium area residents have a new option for a variety of merchandise and grocery items, now that the new Dollar General store has opened. Located at the former Stoltz Motors property on Sizerville Road, the store replaces a smaller one that served the community for many years west of the new site. A grand opening observance is planned for Saturday, Feb. 10. Dollar General is leasing the site from owner Miller Brothers Construction Development. It’s part of a national chain that has grown by more than 50 percent since 2010. Dollar General, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar now have more than 1,200 locations in Pennsylvania, up from less than 800 in 2007. Dollar General alone has 650 locations in the state.
