CareerLink moves to N. Tier building

Pennsylvania CareerLink, a consolidated employment assistance agency operated by the state, has relocated its Cameron County office from the library to the historic Northern Tier Community Action Corp. in downtown Emporium.

Services will be offered on a scaled-down schedule of just two days per week, Tuesday and Thursday, from 8:30 am to 3 pm. Phone number has been changed to 486-1161.

CareerLink has been on a rocky road as a result of federal and state funding limits. It began as a collaborative project between multiple agencies to provide career and employers, with elements of training and other services.

In sparsely populated areas, Pennsylvania CareerLink has scaled back its presence from to streamlined “access points.” At one time the Cameron County center had as many as was open every weekday.

Services will remain the same, according to a spokesman from the Northcentral Workforce Investment Board (WIB), which administers CareerLink services across Cameron, Potter, Elk, McKean, Clearfield and Jefferson counties.
